We are 25 Aboriginal young women attending 2 different boarding schools, both in major Australian cities. We come from over 15 different Aboriginal nations across Australia, throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

We were the first research group that worked with Jessa, and we developed photoyarn, a new Indiegnous method. It was our suggestion that a social media group be formed, so we could share our experiences of boarding school and use camera phones to take pictures of our thoughts, feelings and ideas. Some of us are on a large scholarship program, some of us are on a smaller national scholarship program, and some of us were not on scholarships. Some of us have family close to our school, some of us have family over 2500 km from our school. These are our experiences attending non-Indigenous, Australian girls’ boarding schools.
